ACA Use Location

Citizen Access now allows geolocation with the citizen’s consent. This allows the citizen to pin their location on a map when applying for a permit or reporting an incident. If the citizen does not consent to the ‘use location’, the pin will be placed on the map using the default setting of the Accela AGIS basemap settings.

This feature works when Accela GIS is configured and the Show on Maps checkbox in the Module Settings is checked.

This feature captures the location’s XY coordinates. If the agency has X Coordinate and Y Coordinate fields in the Addresses page in Civic Platform, those values are included along with the other address information when the record is submitted.

To configure

1. In the APO step of the page flow, click on Show Map.

Use your current location request pops up for user to Allow or Don’t Allow

2. If Allow, the map marker on location is added. If Don’t Allow, the map marker on agency basemap XY settings is added.

3. When the user clicks on map marker, the location data is populated in the Use Location box.

4. When the user clicks on the Use Location box, the APO data populates in the fields below.

Note: The XY coordinate feature may not work properly if the agency’s Geocoding Service is set to World.
